Acupuncture for Men's Health

Conserve Jing for Men's Health

Human life is sustained by Qi (vital energy). Each man is made up two types of Qi: (1) congenital essence, which is a fixed amount that we inherit from our parents at birth and (2) acquired essence, which is constantly ingested from food and fluids. These energies are stored in our Kidneys, which supply the resources needed for all bodily functions. Aging occurs when congenital essence is used up and our ability to acquire new essence declines. As a man's Kidney essence (Jing) becomes exhausted, our physiological activities cease and natural life ends.

Jing is responsible for growth and development, reproduction, tranformation of blood, and for expelling exogenous Evils. It is responsible for sexual development, necessary for the production of menstrual blood and semen, and provides the primitive material needed for embryo development. This energy infuses into the bones and transforms into marrow, resulting in strong bones and muscles during the prime of life. An abundance of Jing also strengthens the body's resistance to pathogenic evils (Wind, Heat, Cold, Damp, and Dryness).

When Jing declines, the body becomes vulnerable to these pathogens, causing illness and disease. Irregularity and/or excess in these life functions depletes Jing. Sexual dysfunction (including low libido, impotence, erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation) is caused by Jing depletion, and can be aggravated by poor sleep, overwork, physical trauma, and emotional disturbances.

Practitioners of Oriental Medicine treat the decline and disharmony of Qi and blood in order to prevent and treat aging. Acupuncture and herbal medicine promotes the free flow of Qi and blood throughout the body. These natural, holistic therapies can clear up blockages of phlegm and blood stagnation in the body, and especially in the brain.
Hair Loss

The condition of the hair is directly related to the health and quality of the blood & organs responsible for cleaning the blood, especially the kidneys. Toxins in the blood (such as excess sweets, oils and acidity) create excess Fire in the blood. This excess energy escapes from the body through the head, causing damage to the hair follicles & resulting in hair loss.

Acupuncture & herbal medicine stops hair loss by drawing energy back into the body. Qi is directed back to the kidneys, which are the organs responsible for the body's growth functions including the hair.

Back Pain

Back pain is one of the most common reasons for which people seek acupuncture. Lower back pain is usually caused by stagnation of blood and Qi, whether due to injury or overwork/stress. Qi deficiency also produces dull aches in the lower back, which often travels down the legs and buttocks causing sciatic pain.

Acupuncture moves stagnant Qi to relieve lower back pain. This therapy also increases blood flow to muscles and tissues and stimulates the production of endorphins, which is the body's natural painkiller. It also works better than many drugs such as codeine or morphine, with none of the side effects.

Stress & Anxiety

Stress and anxiety can have a big impact on your health.
Acupuncture is a natural stress reliever that releases endorphins and other chemicals in the body that affect stress and mood.

Relieve Chronic Pain

Acupuncture stops pain and speeds recovery from sports injuries. Many professional athletes sports teams have acupuncturists on staff for this reason. In fact, acupucnture is the primary means of quick healing for the martial arts. This natural therapy treats sports injuries by:

  • reducing pain
  • decreasing inflammation
  • relaxing musce spasms
  • reducing swelling
  • improving local blood circulation
  • lowering the body's pain response

Acupuncture is effective for treating both acute and chronic pain. This treatment works best when administered as soon as possible after an injury. A few intense sessions following an acute injury helps the body to heal rapidly. Chronic injuries are usually diagnosed as a deficiency, i.e. a deficiency or weakness caused by an unresolved injury to the body. Treatment of chronic injuries are more complicated and may require several acupuncture sessions along with herbal medicine and dietary modifications. Medications, prolonged inactivity, and surgeries can also effect the course of treatment required.
