COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE

What is Community Acupuncture?

Community acupuncture is a return to traditional healing, where treatments were conducted in a group rather than individual setting. Group treatments foster a sense of community and support and are convenient for family members or friends to receive treatment together. This also allows us to make acupuncture more affordable and accessible for our patients.

Acupuncture is a safe, natural holistic therapy that utilizes your body's inherent ability to heal itself.  This treatment relieves pain, reduces inflammation, enhances immunity and promotes healing.  Additional benefits include relief from headaches, improved sleep, and a deep sense of relaxation.  Community acupuncture is performed on zero gravity recliners or yoga mats for your comfort and convenience.  Most treatments take about thirty minutes and require no disrobing.

Community acupuncture is effective for treating most common ailments and conditions, including, but not limited to:

  • Circulatory Problems (hypertension, palpitations, chest pain, high cholesterol)
  • Gastrointestinal/Digestive Disorders (acid reflux, constipation, indigestion, IBS)
  • Headaches (sinus, migraine, and tension headaches)
  • Immune Deficiency (including lupus, diabetes, chronic fatigue)
  • Joint & Muscle Pain (arthritis, fibromyalgia, sciatica, sports injuries)
  • Menstrual Pain and Disorders (PMS, dysmennorhea, menopause)
  • Pregnancy (infertility, morning sickness, breech presentation)
  • Mental Health (anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress/tension)
  • Neurological (MS, stroke care and prevention)
  • Respiratory Ailments (allergies, asthma, cold, and flu)
  • Skin Disorders (acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea
  • Stress/Tension
  • Substance Abuse (alcohol, nicotine and drug dependency)
  • Weight Loss (appetite control, bloating, detoxification)
  • Women's Health (PMS, menopause, menstrual pain, morning sickness)
  • Other (hair loss, hangovers, ED)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does it cost?

We charge a flat fee of $30 for community acupuncture treatments. We believe this is a fair price which allows us to keep our business going while providing valuable and affordable treatments to the community. Unlike many other acupuncture clinics, we do not charge an initial paperwork fee or require proof of income. Herbal consultations are FREE.

Are walk-ins welcome?

Yes, walk-ins are welcome and treated on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also RSVP and let us know what time you expect to arrive in order to reduce the wait time.

How do I prepare for treatment?

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be asked to roll up your sleeves and pant legs, and to take off shoes and socks.

How long does the treatment take?

Community acupuncture usually takes about 30 minutes. The acupuncturist will spending about 10 minutes to discuss your concerns and insert the needles. Then, you will sit quietly for about 20 minutes to allow the treatment to take effect.

What is the difference between community acupuncture and private sessions?

Community acupuncture is a quick and affordable method of holistic healing that is performed in a group setting. It is limited to "distal points" - points on the head & neck, hands & arms, and feet & legs - that are easily accessible and require no disrobing. This treatment is effective for most common ailments and conditions. However, patients with severe or chronic conditions or who require stimulation in other parts of the body (such as the stomach or back) may be advised to seek private sessions. If you wish to discuss your condition at length, please contact us to schedule a private session. Private acupuncture sessions normally take one hour, and include dietary advice and herbal consultation.
